Trips to Wine Country and More!


Welcome to Grape Getaways, offering day trips from New York City to wineries on Long Island, the Hudson Valley, and beyond. We have been offering excursions to wine country since 2004.

Our typical trip includes a prompt morning departure from midtown at approximately 9:15 AM, visits to approximately 3 wineries, and a return back to Manhattan in time for supper at roughly 6:30 pm, depending on traffic. From time to time we also organize trips where we have lunch at a restaurant (versus a casual box lunch at a winery.) We occasionally also organize full weekend excursions. Our goal is to visit a variety of wineries each season - so no single trip is the same.

Each excursion includes round trip transportation, lunch, tours and tastings at the wineries as well as wine appreciation pointers. Time permitting we may also stop at a local farm stand. We try to make our trips fun and informative. Naturally, you will also be able to purchase wine while visiting the wineries. What better way to make new friends while enjoying a trip to the countryside (and of course, you leave the driving to us!)

WINTER HIATUS – WE HOPE TO SEE YOU NEXT SEASON

Grape Getaways ran several tours to the North Fork of Long Island and the Hudson Valley in 2011 (our eighth year of offering “great” getaways to wine country).

All were fun, informative and a great way to meet fellow wine lovers (and, as always, we varied the vineyards visited so for those who came on more than one trip they could visit different wineries each time). And yes we gave out grapes to all during the rides out, as always – vive le grape!

Next season we hope to arrange an excursion to the Finger Lakes. This is is a fantastic viticulture region with great wines and stunning views (and well worth the long ride). But a full weekend is required including several meals and hotel accommodations, making it more expensive than our day trips. Please let us know if you are interested.

You can expect more excursions to the North Fork, Connecticut and Hudson Valley (and maybe others) to be scheduled in 2012 -- we hope you will be able to join us in the coming season.

In any case, as in the past seven years we will be taking a break during the winter months. Have a great winter!
